Biography:

Hoda Nafee is an Assistant Professor of Pediatric Nursing at University of Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal at Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) and lecturer in Mansoura University at Arab Republic of Egypt .she teaches under and postgraduates programs in both countries and prefer working in clinical filed with patient in addition to her works as a teacher across multiple tracks in different nursing specialties. She holds Master and Ph.D. in pediatric nursing especially in neonatal nursing and works as a trainer in the Egyptian Ministry of Health in partnership with the World Health Organization in an integrated management of childhood illness program. She works as a Member in a Board of directors of Nour AL-Hoda charitable Society, Ministry of Social Solidarity, Egypt.

Abstract:

Pros and Cons of Internet Usage between Saudi and Egyptian Teenagers In Relation To Internet Addiction

Nowadays, the internet is becoming an integral part of the daily life of the teenagers who are the most users of internet at home or school on a large scale and those groups were participating nearly 20% from total population in KSA and ARE. The risk of developing misuse and widespread internet accessibility that facilitates their using of favorite applications whenever and wherever they want which increase the negative consequences neither in their psychiatric state as internet addiction or psychosomatic as musculoskeletal discomfort. Many studies asserted that the users of the internet should be aware of its positive and negative effects on their physical and psychosocial status. So this study aims to identify teenagers’ opinions about the pros and cons of Internet Usage in relation to internet addiction. A convenient sample of 668 teenagers who were recruited from intermediate and secondary school from both countries 331 teenagers from king Saudi Arabia (KSA) and 337 from Arab Republic of Egypt y(ARE) was selected using a descriptive correlation design. Two tools were used for data collection: the first one was a questionnaire sheet including participant’s Students’ socio-demographic data and their opinions about pros and cons of internet usage; the second was internet addiction test (IAT) by Young (1998).

 Results: Regarding teenager opinions of internet pros, both Saudi and Egyptian the highest percentage was to improve general knowledge, it was 32% and 48.7% respectively, the second was the developing sports activity it was 13.6% for Saudi and 31.4% for Egyptian. While the high Teenager's opinion of internet cons went to the moral corruption it was 34.4% for Saudi and 59.1% for Egyptian. About internet addiction, near half of Saudi and Egyptian students had mild and moderate internet addiction (47.7%, 45.3%, and 44.2%, 46.3%) respectively. While severe IA was (0.9%) in Saudi one compared to (0.3%) in Egyptian teenagers. Statistically, no significant relation was found between both groups in relation to internet addiction level where p=0.296. A statistically significant relation was found between both groups in relation their opinions about pros and cons of Internet Usage where P = <0.001, while no statistically significant relationships were found in both Saudi and Egyptian teenagers’ opinions about pros and cons of internet usage in relation to the level of internet addiction except in cons of the internet in the Saudi group (P =0.017). This study concluded that instead of the high level of teenagers awareness in both groups about the cons of internet usage compared to the pros but nearly they were equal in levels of internet addiction. The researchers recommended that further studies be conducted in this field on larger sample size for both genders to identify the other factors related to internet addiction among teenagers.

Introduction: As one grows older one is faced with some health-related challenges by taking a look back to your younger years, then to adulthood and old age.  As one is growing the body and mind is changing that’s when one’s primary care provider will be one’s partner for life through health education and counseling.

What is Primary Care: Primary care is the day to day health care given by a health care provider being the first contact for the continuous care of any patient/ client within the system. The care provider also coordinates further care as the need arises for other specialists and specialized clinics. The care is based on practical, scientifically sound and is socially acceptable and easily accessible to individuals and families.

What is Fitness: Fitness is the condition of being physically fit and healthy or has the quality of being suitable to fulfill a particular role or task. Fitness can also be the state of health and well being and the ability to perform aspects of one’s daily activities, sports, and occupation without any hindrance. The components of fitness comprise cardio respiratory endurance, muscular endurance, muscular strength, muscular power, flexibility, balance, speed, body composition.

What is Wellness: Wellness is a dynamic process of change and growth. Wellness is a state of complete physical, mental and social well being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.

Benefits of Fitness and Wellness: Primary care fitness and wellness is all about preventing illness which includes exercises, good diet/ nutrition and knowledge about potential health issues.  Most people have one or more health issues that are not normal and may feel frustrated to give up on finding a solution thus getting a care provider becomes very necessary. This is aimed at improving health, fitness, and quality of life through daily physical activity and creating life balance.

1.           Physical activities are an important part of living a healthy lifestyle. Exercises improve a lot of things in the human body such as improving the brain performance; sharpen the memory as well as burns out the calories.

2.           It helps in the prevention of cardiovascular diseases by improving the efficiency of the cardiovascular system.

3.           It helps in better management of stress and tension.

4.           It delays the aging process and helps in harmonious growth and development.

5.           Quick recovery after illness or injury and faster recovery of fatigue.

6.           Maintains good shape, size, and control weight.

7.           Improves the motor ability that is the strength, flexibility, endurance, and coordination of the body system. 

Conclusion

 Primary care fitness and wellness is very important to enable one to prevent health-related challenges as one is growing and also keep up with the day to day activities.  The healthcare provider becomes an important part of the individual by ensuring the client is counseled and educated on how to prevent illness.  Fitness and wellness play an important role in the lives of people by exercising regularly and maintaining a good diet/ nutrition. It’s important for one to be happy and by remaining healthy as health is wealth.
